Zara illustration on website and shopping bag

I have illustrated the model with floral and organic vectors to make her appear like a nature goddess than simply a model to enhance the pro Earth day and eco-conscious message. This appears to make the Earth day message more visually striking and incoherent with the background on the website as shown below.

I have chosen the model with the floral pattern as she seems to visually capture 'eco-friendly' more than the one without the floral vectors. As the campaign is about anchoring Zara's environmental policy, this eco-branding of Zara will help to establish more customers who are environmentally conscious. As Zara tries to reduce wastage, has organic fabrics and PVC free shoes, the shopping bags are also recyclable and disposable. As a way to boost its eco message, I have implemented the web design to create a bag design that would be on Zara's eco-friendly shopping bags as part of the campaign.

Illustration development and experimentation in Photoshop

I took a different drawing approach to the previous illustrations. This one is more effective and faster, creating a Guido Crepax like style in terms of minimalist contours to define the figure. I have tried to improve the appearance of the skin to create a sense of form without making the contouring too obvious to create the porcelain effect.

Zara illustration

This is a follow up on the previous post regarding my new project brief to draw an illustration that will be featured on Zara's homepage to enhance their brand identity with eco fashion in line with their Spring/Summer collection.

Rough sketch ups to practise my drawing skills.

Apply floral patterns like a tattoo onto the model. The model will wear clothes from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Mixed with typography to evoke ZARA as a brand that is environmentally concerned.

This illustration has too much going on around the face. I should try to experiment with colour and background. The pattern could spread into the background. The hand typography may be better with computer typeface. The model could look more cheerful to evoke a more positive mood.

More experimentation

I will experiment with line drawings, tonal drawings, elements of colour and simple floral vectors to create the look for the illustration. Here is my experimentation with the tonal style drawing.

PICK ME UP fair + ZARA illustration idea

During my short visit to London, I made use of my time to visit the PICK ME UP graphics fair. Whenever I visit London I always make at least one visit to an exhibition as it is important to know and learn what is happening in Art Culture. I thought that the PICK ME UP fair had lots of inspiring artworks, mainly illustrations. I have posted a few photos that I took below when I was at the fair.

Although it was a graphics fair, I mainly perceived the works as illustration. After visiting the exhibition, I thought that I could instill the inspiration from the designers showcased by creating my own project that utilises drawing. I have always enjoyed drawing figures and faces so I have set myself a brief to do fashion illustration.

I will create an illustration for high street fashion label ZARA. The illustration will be displayed on ZARAs homepage. After researching ZARAs environmental policy, I have decided I could enhance their brand ethos by revolving a fashion illustration that captures its brand but also conveys how they are environmentally conscious. Bearing in mind that Earth Day is on April 22nd 2012 this year, this illustration can be hosted one week before the event to enhance the message that ZARA is an eco conscious brand.

Cadbury Development

I have modified the placement of the floor projection at a supermarket aisle as it may impose distress to parents who may already have trouble looking after their children whilst shopping for their groceries. I have chosen to change the advertisement location to cinema complexes as this may be more suitable. The environment would be stress-free for parents as they would be there for leisure and not mandatory purposes. Children could also be more free to play around in this area, making the interactive floor projection a more fun experience. This location also aids that cinema goers would have time waiting for their film and thereby provides more opportunity for audiences to see and play with the interactive floor projection.

I have drawn out a visualisation to demonstrate how the projection would look like in context. The floor projection could be located by the ticket and confectionery counter as this would inevitably make the audience step onto the projection to maximise attention and recognition.

The bubbles will be of varying size, the motion sensitive projection will recognise people's footsteps. To avoid people getting claustrophobic, the bubbles will burst into smaller bubbles when the person steps onto the projection. The bubbles will appear to be floating onto of the background and mid-ground layer. The mid ground layer will be composed of floating Cadbury logos and the Bubbly bar to enhance movement and thereby attract attention whilst making the audience aware of the product.

The projection will allow multiple interaction. I have created a visualisation of how the projection would appear with a number of people. All the bubbles surrounding the people are small to avoid claustrophobia.

Visualisation to show how once the users step of the projection, the bubbles surrounding the free space become larger.

In order to make this campaign cohesive, I have created a QR code poster for the audience to download and fill a simple form to receive their free bubbly in hopes of getting people to want to try the product to create buzz around the product. I will include sharing apps so that people can tweet, facebook, or chat about the free bubbly bar to generate word-of-mouth.

I have refined the design of the website to make it more appealing. The previous development lacked excitement due to the overly simple layout. I have added the product image to enhance the customer's identity with the product. I also have decided to scrap the bubble wrap idea by including the bubbles that are featured in the QR poster and projection to enhance the campaign's visual aesthetic so that it is cohesive. I have noticed that the purple colour is not cohesive and will adapt this in my further developments.

Gift card generator page

Once a customer visits the Amazon website they will be greeted with a pop up to inform them of the international and customisable gift card service.

They pop up will provide a link button to the gift card generator page.

I have developed the webpage layout for the gift card service. The current gift card webpage does not have the customisable gift card service so I have had to modify the page to include this. I have tried to keep to a simplistic design that is easy for the user to navigate. I have also employed an orange blue and grey colour scheme to keep the web design in keeping with Amazon's brand image.
